Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the heart of Lagos, Caravela offered a memorable gourmet getaway. One sunny morning, I found myself savoring breakfast in a cozy room adorned with stunning 17th-century tiles. The ambiance was warm and inviting-not overly fancy, but just right for a casual start to the day. Each morning, the generous spread included fresh pastries, regional cheeses, and the most delightful local marmalades. I found it hard to resist the charm of savoring breakfast while surrounded by such rich history. After a day of exploring the town's ancient streets and climbing nearby cliffs, I decided to dine at Restaurante Caravela, just a stone's throw away. The menu was extensive, featuring dishes I'd never quite experienced before. Their grilled octopus was undoubtedly a highlight, perfectly tender and bursting with flavor. Though the service was speedy, which made me feel slightly rushed, there was something comforting about the lively atmosphere that made up for it. After a quick meal, I meandered towards the bustling Esquina do Fado, where I indulged in more local flavors. In short, Caravela proved to be a convenient base for my adventures, showcasing the best of Lagos' culinary scene amidst historical beauty.
